One of the most common questions I get asked is: "Do I need a publicist?"

Press can add a lot of value to a project, specifically: 
  1. Positioning: frames the artist in a particular way in the mind of the listener 
  2. Kick open other doors: provides talking points that become leverage for other gatekeepers, i.e.: sharing a pull quote from Pigeons & Planes to playlist curators in the hope to be added to a playlist that facilitates streams
  3. Territory growth: breaking into new regional markets via tour press

It does not fuel artist discovery as efficiently as playlisting or digital marketing and therefore not every artist requires a publicist straight off the bat.
