The core of building a fanbase is about finding people who don’t know about the music (but should) and getting them to listen, like, follow, stream, buy.
Digital advertising does at scale without requiring heavy time investment on your part.
I am a big fan of digital advertising for artists of any size. For these reasons:
- Highly measurable. If you’re working with a limited budget, which hey, we all are, then you need every dollar to be trackable.
- Low barrier to entry. You can do noticeable damage for as little as $5 p/day
- Improves marketing intelligence. Helps you learn about potential audiences by providing insight in the way people interact with music, content and product that influence an artist’s entire business
This section is a bit different from the others.
I’ve kept the video content focused purely on strategy as digital ad strategy rarely changes across the various objective in a release. However, the platforms are constantly changing.
As such, I’ve included a companion document going into the nitty gritties of specific campaign setups, which is updated as platforms change.
